Soak raisins in wine for 15 minutes.<br/>
Scald milk.<br/>
Stir in sugar, salt and butter.<br/>
Remove from heat and let cool.<br/>
In a large bowl add yeast to warm water and stir until the yeast<br/>
dissolves.<br/>
Add milk mixture, egg, 1/2 of the flour, lemon juice, and raisins<br/>
(drain off liquid from raising first).
Beat until smooth.<br/>
Stir in remaining flour.<br/>
Cover and let rise for 1 hour or double in size.<br/>
Beat batter down.<br/>
Heat oil for deep-frying.<br/>
Deep fry spoonfuls of dough until golden brown on both sides.<br/>
Place on paper towel to absorb any excess grease.<br/>
Dust with powdered sugar.
